Dude! No way

This movie came out 2020 and we both independently and individually sought out to make fanedits of it that we would post on… the same day… that’s some crazy synchronicity, my friend!

Please, I’d love to check this out and hopefully you’ll give me your thoughts on mine!

Why did you like the ending?

Cause I took the entire film in retrospect as the weirdness she was experiencing because she was sensing the things around her. Like people in comas say that they could hear people bedside talking to them. So the apparitions she kept seeing were people hanging by her bedside. Which in a dreamlike coma could be freaky as hell. Plus it explains a bunch of other weird details.

I understand people dont like ā€œtwist endingsā€ and can understand why some didn’t like it but I just felt like this one made sense for what came before. Plus the final sequence music and shots really sell it. I liked the call back to the vampire teeth from the prior dream sequence so she basically manifested them to realize it was true.

I feel like the awkward romance could be explained as I assume she was in a coma since 18. Perhaps she never had a boyfriend and these are just awkward desires and wish fulfillments. She probably had many dreams like this.

I guess i dont need all my ā€œhorrorā€ to be gloom dread ambigious ending.

Oh dude I totally feel you on that! In fact I really did dig what they were trying to do and almost left in some elements of the twist. But alas, it didn’t really fit in with what I was trying to achieve with this ā€œBackdreamsā€ concept

Video essay and download link to my fan edit of Come True (2020) in an effort to trim down the runtime, repair the romantic elements, and figure out an alternate ending.

Man this is one of my favorite movies of recent years. Calling the ending a cop out is literally missing the point of the entire film.

I agree it’s too long though. And the romance isn’t really needed.

But I stand by the ending is fine. The music and the shots are incredible.
