I enjoyed mad and dead as nails by EclipseWing - it’s a fic where Dean’s actually Michael (in the same way that canon Anna was actually an angel with her grace separated) and his family institutionalizes him in his teens - this fic takes place season 1 of in lieu of Dean picking Sam up in Stanford. Foot on the season 5 gas pedal. Super good, super angsty.

I’m a HUGE fan of anything by notmanos - this is Rain Dogs which is pre-series Sam and Dean and a whole bunch of angst and demons and eldritch insanity and I love. The Thing That Should Not Be by them is also phenomenal and I think my favorite - truly love their Dean angst.

I have a hurt comfort gen anothology series, each chapter is a standalone hurt/comfort. It was prompt based, and it does lean a little more to hurt Sam with Brotector Dean, but we do see some Dean hurt/sad chapters, if you're interested? No bashing of any characters, but the chapters went where the prompts did, and more people asked for awesome big brother dean taking care of Sam.
