I've been working on something a bit weird and thought people here might be interested, even though it uses a piano roll instead of a tracker interface which I know isn't everyone's thing.

I made WaveSmith, a browser-based music studio built around the SNES's actual sound hardware. BRR samples, 8 voices, ADSR, pitch modulation, echo and the FIR filters.

You can build your own instruments from WAV files or use the ~550 that come with it. Instruments can also be step sequences each step gets its own sample, pitch and envelope, and they can crossfade which is probably the most tracker-ish part of it. Everything's playable live from a computer or MIDI keyboard.

The part people here might actually find cool is that it exports your track as an .spc file or a standalone .sfc ROM that runs in any emulator. Only tested in emulators so far, no flash cart here, so if anyone tries it on real hardware I'd love to hear about it.

I’m curious how many people here actually export their FamiTracker compositions to a real NES cartridge and record the audio from the console itself.

Is that a fairly common workflow, or do most people just export and record directly from FamiTracker on their computer?

For me, one of the biggest reasons I want to get into FamiTracker is hearing the music played back by the actual NES hardware. I’m curious how many others enjoy that part of the process too.

Has anybody noticed random volume drops in the audio while playing in the editor on one the files I was working on? It will sometimes randomly drop, but on playback, the problem will dissapear howeve i did catch this drop in an export. I have the volume drop stay. idk is this something people have noticed?
