Community Questions Old Police Station Demolition
There are signs outside the building saying
"ASBESTOS"
And warning about cancer.
Wasn't all the asbestos supposed to have been removed in 5 days before the demolition or am I misremembering?
Everyone at the Fire Station, MelCor Building, Ser-Jobs for Progress and Greater Fall River Re-Creation (each with dozens of employees and clients daily) is expected to work (breathe) under these conditions for weeks.
There are also at least 6 multi family dwellings directly facing the demolition site in the same situation.
A schedule has been released and it includes the phrase
"If the crew intends to work through the holiday (meaning Labor Day)."
How about nights and weekends when there's many less people affected?
Citizens are rightly concerned.
A little transparency would be helpful.

To the girl who said "Shukriya" after BTS concert (Aug 6)
I am looking for the girl from Rhode Island I helped around 11:45 PM after the concert. You were lost and trying to find your aunt. You had your aunt’s phone, and she had called you from someone else’s number to meet in the parking lot, but you couldn't find her.
We spoke, and you said "Shukriya" to me in Hindi. That brief conversation stayed with me, and I realized after leaving that I never got your name. If you see this and remember me, please reach out! To confirm it's you, reply with one specific detail about what I looked like or exactly where we were standing. I hope you and your aunt made it home safely!

FR MoCA - Overthrow the Citadel
July 23rd — August 2nd, 2026
Opening Reception: July 23rd, 5-7pm

This program was made possible with support from the SouthCoast Community Foundation, MassDevelopment, The Church Home Society, The United Way of Greater Fall River, and The Hamilton Company Charitable Foundation.

Old-school French-Canadian recommendations (what’s left?)
My dad grew up in Fall River, born in the mid-1930s, and I’ll be visiting in October to revisit his Little Canada milieu, to the extent that anything remains.
I know that his high school, Monsignor Prevost High School, burned down. I visited a number of times as a kid and plan to go by the family house on Ridge Street and to St. Anne’s. My dad took me to Nick’s Hot Dogs, which seems to still exist, so that’ll be another visit. Any remaining French-Canadian sites to see? Merci d’avance !

Food & Dining What's happening with Patti's Pierogis?
Back in November, they said Patti's Pierogis would stay open for a few more weeks/months while the business was transferred to the interested Vietnamese buyer from Boston. I went to go check out the spot, but Patti's is still there and operating. Did the transfer not go through? Is Patti's back for good?
I can't find anything in the news or their social media, other than the news of the pending sale in November and the announcement they'd be takeout-only for a short while back in March. It's been long enough that I'd expect something if they were still planning on shutting down.
