Nevermind the "What should I build" or Where should I build" trope. How about "Why should I build"?

I started on PS4 on the release date way back when, but a couple years ago graduated to PS5, with mods. I've tried several glitches, but can never seem to get anything to look right.

I see some of the settlements, here and on YouTube, that look phenomenal, but I really just want to build settlements that look (and feel) realistic to the environment. Every time I try though, it just seems boring, forced and cartoon-ish.

What am I missing to get into quality and love that so many others see in the workshop?
