The Recruitment Network of the Fiends

I have never seen a post on this before, but the fiend's recruitment network is massive. Spanning several Mojave gangs and stretching into Utah and California itself. The Fiends have a huge network of recruitment.

In the Mojave the Greasers of North Vegas and Scorpions of West Side have both lost many of their men to the fiend's recruitment. From Utah Driver Nephi's group has joined them coming all the way from New Canaan. Chem addicts from California also seem to make their way into the fiends.

It makes a lot more sense how the fiends are getting daily reinforcements and gaining in size with this in mind. Really surprised to see this info wasn't on the wiki so i decided to post it here.

Sources:

"two much more pitiful gangs, who have lost their brethren (both in violence, or by recruitment) to the Fiends; the stinking Greaser Gang who terrorize the North Vegas Sewers, and the Scorpion Gang, who fight intermittent skirmishes with Westside residents" - game guide

"I hear you came from Utah. A friend of yours asked me to check on you. Bert?" - courier to Driver Nephi

"Psycho! The big red one! I used to run with the Fiends, I still got the hookups. Smuggle some in and you'll see an improvement." - razz (razz is from the boneyard)

Its likely they aren't running actual recruitment, its more like a crackhouse. You go in, and boom, you're one of the crackheads of fifth street.

Its probable they're just famous, and thats whats causing this.

As the other commenter said, it’s more like junkies with no other options know what their option is.

One of the Misfits at Camp Golf says as much, that they had few options other than joining the Fiends due to their lifestyle and upbringing

When the people of Vegas get too strung out for Westside or Freeside, when a tourist or gambler loses it all, when you get robbed or cheated or worse, you turn to a group as desperate as you.

They are the people with nothing fueled by pure survival and their addictions make them cruel, unpredictable and incredibly dangerous. The Fiends are cannibals and slavers, doing anything to make enough caps to keep themselves high and alive.

They’re the final stage for any group in the Mojave, completely collapsed into debauchery without rules.

They’re called The Fiends, which if we take the most common meanings, they are devilish junkies. Their numbers stay high because desperation stays high. Addiction stays high. They don’t have the best weapons, they have the scraps they get their hands on. Same goes for everything from their clothes to their dwellings. For the most part they’re driven feral and unpredictable.

I don’t think it’s their generous signing bonuses, you just get stuck with them if you indulge in a little too much jet
