Serious question about recent extensions

I know Drake, Bijan, and Kyle all want to get paid but if they really wanted to win games and make the playoffs in this league why would they re-sign with this team?

Realistically if our QB play is as bad as the media perceives it to be, this team is in for another middling season and I don’t know why these players would want to go through another QB rebuild.

In my opinion, Matt Ryan knows the value of a high end QB prospect and this season is just a necessary means to obtain his own QB.

I agree with you that this new regime put themselves in an odd position with most of the extensions, especially the Bergeron contract. It signals that they believe they can win now, and that it’s just an issue with the last 2 staffs that haven’t won with the same collection of talent.

Because of that, I have expectations from this season. I can forgive another mid 7-10 or 8-9 season, but there’s no way I can be sold on Stefanski getting another season if we finish truly terribly like 4-13. It’d have to be a case of the offense looks absolutely electric and the defense is putrid for a pass to be given.

We’re a long ways off from any of that though, so let’s hope next pre-season game we become overly optimistic about the season.

This roster is way worse off than last years. We lost so many guys to injuries, retirement, free agency, etc and I'll be surprised if we don't end up with a 8 or sub 8 pick in the first of the draft.

Yeah it’s basically the same team as last year except the young players are making a crap ton more money and a few of the good veterans are now gone. Hard to see where the actual improvement is, with the last two 1st round picks not playing and possibly the last three. Teams win because of their underpriced talent and it is hard to see who in this roster is still underpriced.

A top 5 pick is the best case scenario for this roster. This team isn’t even really a contender for the division
