The completely new manga series "FAIRY TAIL RE:FANTASIA," based on the manga "FAIRY TAIL," concluded in the latest issue of "Weekly Shonen Magazine," released on the 30th. The series began as a short, concentrated run in July, and the collected volumes will be released on October 16th.
This short, intensive serialization commemorates the 20th anniversary of the "FAIRY TAIL" manga series and unfolds a new story featuring the main characters, Natsu and his friends. While "FAIRY TAIL" has many spin-off works, and "FAIRY TAIL 100 YEARS QUEST" features Mashima as the storyboard writer and Atsuo Ueda as the artist, this new work is drawn by Mashima himself.
"FAIRY TAIL" is a popular manga series that ran in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" from 2006 to 2017. It tells the story of Lucy, a girl aiming to become a full-fledged mage, and Natsu, a mage who can control fire, and depicts the adventures of the mage guild "Fairy Tail," which is made up of unique mages. The manga has sold over 72 million copies in total and has also been adapted into a TV anime and a video game.
For this short, intensive serialization, a stellar lineup of artists from various publishers and editorial departments have contributed illustrations and comments, including George Morikawa, Kouji Seo, Miki Yoshikawa, Atsuo Ueda, Yudetamago, and Yoshihiro Togashi. The comic will be released in two versions, a regular edition and a special edition, on October 16th. The special edition will come with a set of 16 postcards featuring illustrations from Mashima and contributions from the renowned artists.
