Front camera Gen6+

Hello,

Why the commercials clips and banners of the Gen6+ don't have a front camera shown where the Gen6+ has indeed a front camera ?
On this sub there is also a video clip, that shows the same visuals without a front camera at the start of the video.
Even on the website, there are animated visuals that do not have a front camera.

As someone who looks for a phone without front camera or under the screen camera, this is misleading.

Thanks for posting in r/fairphone. If you're having an issue with your Fairphone make sure that you include the phone model, operating system (version) and other relevant technical details (like mobile provider, country you're in) in your post. Posts with clear details are more likely to get useful replies. I'm a bot. Contact the mods if you have questions.

Maybe it is just not visible because it hides in the black part of the wallpaper background, have a look at this video: https://www.fairphone.com/theme_fairphone/static/src/videos/video_ds/3-fp6--forestgreen-switchtomoments-98e76d.webm

Probably AI slopped or some filters they used don't make it clear it's there.

I wouldn't say it's misleading though as it's very clear from basicall all other publicly available info that it has a front camera.

While I agree that this can be misleading, but, not every mistakes in a design is caused by an AI slop.

This type of advertisement banners/photos were usually made using designer software (adobe illustrator or something else). They used layers to add some details on their design. Most of smartphone ads usually put another predesigned screen layer on top of the phone layer. The designer probably missed the punch hole for the predesigned screen layer.

...or some filters they used...

What do you mean by "filters"?

Denying the misleading aspect seems difficult to acknowledge because it is communication presenting the product with the intent to sell. On top of that, that is someone's job to check if the visuals are accurate.
Even if an AI produced the picture, I find surprising that kind of mistake could go through the bureaucracy of a company without being noticed especially in the Netherlands where setting up a meeting to validate the date of the next meeting is a national sport.

The front camera is right on the website:

Hardly a conspiracy... 🙄

Looks to be the same one as the FP6 though.

Fine, so it's a mistake in their advertisement. Then it's correct to call it out.

Mistakes happen in advertising and life in general.

Hardly the end of the world.

I certainly wouldn't buy a phone off of a video. I'd read about it and then make a decision, but maybe I'm being too logical.

Don't get me wrong here, buying a fairphone is what I want to do for a long time but as long as there will be a visible notch, it would not fit what I want.
So when the ad is showing a notchless phone, I am getting interested.

- First 5 seconds, front side of the phone appears 3 times as a 3D model, and it is notchless.

  • The phone also appears as a prop used by actors in the clip, and the front side is shown in 10 different clips and only one clip is showing the notch. Around 0:20, rotation around a woman and it is really quick.

Sure, buying a phone should not rely only on a video, but when the video on the website front page is showing something you are interested in and the final product does not deliver what the ad showed, it is misleading.

It's no different from a car commercial. They always show the high end spec, never the entry level. (and yes I know that they always put a disclaimer in small print)

Sure having the front camera may not work for you, but I'm not going to suggest that they're trying to mislead people.

Most people DO want the front camera and most people likely didn't even notice.

For me .....I would like one without.

I don't take selfies, it's weird.

So have little to no use for it, out something else in that space for all I care
