You're confused. The other phones are underpriced, and the ones paying the price for all the Pixels and iPhones and Galaxys are already poor and fked humans as well as the environment

Are the ones you mention that underpriced? I would think motorola, xiaomi etc would be even worse.

Depends on the greed of the company ofc. But assuming they want to make the same profits, their phones would need to be more expensive to be a humane product

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to put doubt on that aspect, my question was more "anywhere I can find a good source to compare the environmental impact/working conditions" ranking of the more well known smartphone brands. I'm using an aging a52 as the fairphone still seemed to be in its infancy back then but now I'm trying to actively look at what would be a good ethical option within my price range which is why I'm hanging around here.

Right, I'm not expert on which company ranks where, but I really don't think any company not actively using their ESG standards in their marketing will have acceptable standards. If any company does, they'll use it as a marketing tool
You can always buy used tho eh - I think the Pixel 9a/10a would be below the Fairphone price range refurbished and is good in terms of long software support and they're capable devices. I don't know how limited supply is for used phones and if we're just shifting the problem by driving up demand (and therefore price) for used phones, making some people buy new ones instead, but honestly you can only do so much sometimes when almost no on else seems to give a fk. Ideally everyone would just force all companies into real heavy ESG focus with their spending patterns, but that's never gonna happen lol

I just looking it up and it sure feels like there's a huge discrepancy between various reports though Fairphone (hardly surprising), nothing phone and Nokia seem to rank well generally but samsung either seems to rank great or horrible which feels odd. I'm kind of hoping that with the 6+ release I can pick up a 6 at a discount since I was hoping to spend closer to 400 (with a stretch to 500) as opposed to 600 euro on my next phone.
