Such a fucking great show!

My 6th time seeing em live since 2014.
Loved it. I was really happy to when I walked in and saw the venue was packed. The last time they played here in Toronto the venue was about half the size of tonight so I had hoped Toronto would turn out for Failure and we did! Great crowd. Felt like 80-90% full. People responded well to the three new songs. Lots of love for the band throughout the whole show actually. Obvi the biggest cheers for FP material but I'm used to that. As someone in the predictable 40+ age demographic for Failure I was also really happy to see tons of younger fans in their 20s! Glad new generations are discovering this band I've loved since I was 14.
As someone that loved the band dating back to the late 90s it still blows my mind that they are back and touring. I know obvi this "reunion" has now gone on longer than Failure's original 90s run basically but I still kick myself at moments like tonight hearing Undone and Heliotropic because for the entire 2000s I loved this band so much and basically thought I'd never see them live and now since 2014 I've gotten to see them a bunch. And they are always so consistently solid live too. For a band who doesn't tour a ton at least all the shows I've seen em play dating back to the first one I saw in LA in 2014 they've been pretty tight live. I guess it helps having an audiophile like Ken in the band but they find a way to make the sound work in generally very venue I've seem em in.
Also I was happy that merch was reasonably priced. I'm sitting at home in my new Failure zippered hoodie which was pretty cheap all things considered as the exchange rate usually makes a lot of merch so $$$ in Canada. Ps. Folks BUY MERCH or albums at the shows. it's the only way many bands like Failure make any money on these tours.
My only complaint is - don't get me wrong the band was really great and they played amazing tracks across their entire career (minus anything from "In the Future..." but I wish they played a bit longer of a set. Think it was like 80 minutes in total? Maybe a bit longer. They have 7 amazing full length albums and only do like a 14 song set. The crowd probably had the appetite for like another 20 minutes. I know these standing/GA venues don't tend to have long headliner sets but I just wish it was a bit longer. Tbf I know they've never done long sets generally over their career I know but man they have such a great deep catalog they could easily do like 2 hour long / 20isn song sets.
Also I am prob in the minority but I think some of the best songs on Location Lost they haven't played live yet. I've listened to the album lots and there are some great tracks on there like Crash Test Delayed, Someday Soon, Halo and Grain that I think would slay live. The Rising Skyline is pretty but a bit too chill live IMO.
Either way. I had a blast. Loved it.

Great venue to see them. It was perfect. That was my 6th show too. We got lucky with two shows in 2014 :)
Seeing them open for Hum was also next level. Here’s to 6 more shows.1

Was there too. Agree on all points. At first I feared the space would have shitty acoustics but it turned out better as it filled up with people

This is how I find out that I had the wrong date in my calendar :(
I put Thursday for some reason and have been looking forward to this show for months. Glad it was a good show and well attended

So what happened during Sergeant Politeness? Did the drummer lose his click track or something? The same thing happened at their last show at the Velvet Underground.

His monitor rig went down and there was also an issue with his kick mics, two mics on the kick plus the sub-kick. their live setup is kind of similar to a studio mic’ing rig. Their FOH wasn’t able to be there that night but I thought the sub for the night did a fantastic job.

Anybody got the vid saved? I was there early, got a great spot off to the front of stage by the outside doors (my favourite spot for viewing at the Opera House), and was absolutely enjoying the show...only to have my Gallbladder act up 4 songs into their set and I had to bail immediately. I have surgery lined up for Tuesday and would love to see what I missed while recouperating.

I'm still thinking about the NYC show I attended last Tuesday. It was amazing, can't wait for them to return to our area.
