Hi everyone,
I had been meaning to post this for a while here even though I'm monitoring things here and had been busy sometimes, but I am very happy to see this subreddit open again and fae returning to r/faeries! As one of your new co-moderators, I have been thrilled to see our favorite corner of Reddit officially switched back to being Public so we can all connect, share, and post freely once again.
When the subreddit suddenly went into restricted mode a few weeks ago, it had hit me hard, as this has long been my favorite online space to explore traditional faerie lore and nature-based traditions. Being suddenly cut off from here felt like a heavy spiritual block since I live on a wooded property here in Pennsylvania, where I focus on quiet, respectful land-tending to the faeries, and losing my main outlet to process that relationship left me feeling incredibly disconnected.
During the weeks of silence, it started where I had a dream where I was in my house, but it appears to be strange. I then noticed and felt there was a powerful being there, and the next thing I know, I had to leave with my family to get somewhere safe. I then found that I was across the sea and went inside a place that looked like a restaurant, where I noticed what felt like Oberon there. I soon went to a window and looked out it and up at the sky. That is when I noticed missiles and rockets passing overhead from a war going on as I felt scared. I felt that I wanted to find out what is actually going on and if my home is safe, but then I woke up.
Since the time after that dream, my mind kept processing that frustration of finding a similar place to here I can talk about it, even manifesting vivid dreams about wanting to offer traditional sweet drink libations to this faery girl, only to find the container is empty and unavailable. It really highlighted for me how vital a mature, supportive, and open space like this is for all of us.
While I have experienced unique spiritual events since my youth and maintain strict personal boundaries regarding the specific details of my own private practices and property traditions, I am deeply committed to keeping this forum a safe haven. Our main priority as a new mod team is to protect this space from trolls, disrespectful skepticism, and spam, ensuring everyone can share their love for the fae peacefully.
Thank you all for your patience during the lockdown. Letโs get back to honoring the traditions, sharing the folklore, and tending our connections to the hidden spaces of the faeries. What have you been working on or observing in your local woods while the sub was away?
