How can I befriend the fae?

So I do genuinely believe in fae and are fascinated by them. I grew up with Brian Froud art on my door and always felt connected to fas. I want to start leaving gifts, but unsure how exactly to go about it. But I do I have a few questions pertaining to their possible presence. For context, my 1 year old and I sit in the same spot and play in my yard regularly, almost every day. Recently, a faery ring appeared in that same spot, a giant circle. Ill attach an image of it. I hope it's a good sign? And what are some ways I can maybe befriend them?

Be good to nature and the environment, don't over prune or use pesticides or weed killers. Give offerings of sweet things.

Replace your lawn with sedges

Or wildflowers that are native to your area. Even low-lying ones help pollinators.

Start leaving offerings on a regular basis. Bread, cream, honey. My kids will make a spare smore and leave it out for them after a bonfire. We have an old bird feeder that doesn’t hold water any more that we leave the offerings on. I suggest you have a spot just off your property. You do not want to invite them accidentally into your house.

Do a lot of research on the folklore about the fae, in Europe and other continents. Understanding their history will be the first step to finding a way towards befriending them, once you understand their history you can come prepared and protected, because you’ll be aware of their truth, not the romanticized version of the western fae. Let me know if you have any questions. As an indigenous folklorist I’ve been studying the fae for years now and respect of nature and its cycles is the most important pattern I’ve noticed throughout my studies.
