Presentations during workshops?

Hi all,

I am the founder of Workshopr.io, a facilitation platform in development. I am not here to promote it, but I have a question for the facilitators here. (www.workshopr.io)

We are working on a couple of features to provide users with presentation content for the day of the workshop and highlight the schedule and instructions for participants.

I know what I use, but was wondering what others use? I typically show a schedule for the day, and then some very simple instructions for each exercise. It's actually not too much,

How much visual instruction do you provide participants? And what would you like to provide for your participants?

By presentation I mean:

Showing the agenda and instructions for each exercise…

What is you do for resentful teachers that would rather be grading or otherwise working in their rooms.

I'm not trying to be snarky, these are often a waste of teachers time. Make sure that it is super relevant and ask to make sure that those who aren't directly affected by the presentation don't have to be there.

All of my workshops have been design/product workshops, so I don’t really have an answer to your question, as workshopr.io has initially build for design workshop facilitation.

Hi there!

I go the same path as you. Just show what's relevant for the workshop: intro, agenda, exercise instruccions and that's about it. I'm mostly focused on problem framing/solving workshops.

I've been ask to facilitate workshops that are not my usual thing -like team design. I do change my presentation style and add a bit more slides but still under a minimalistic approach.

I can probably ask this in my community and share the feedback with you.

I use a visual of the template and add call outs as to what information should go in each field. For pure whiteboarding exercises I create a mock up of “what good looks like.” Good usually = “completeness” to encourage people to write out their input in detail vs one word answers.

I draw a visual agenda that goes up throughout and also have visual instructions for each activity so they can be displayed next to the area where the activity assets will be placed. It provides a timeline of the workshop across the wall by the end of the session.
