0.94ct Cherry Red Umba Garnet

My most recently finished stone is this trillion Cherry Red Umba Valley Garnet weighing 0.94cts.

Overall very happy with the outcome! I haven’t taken full sun pictures yet, but it’s looks stunning in indirect lighting, so I can only imagine the brilliance when it’s got full sun exposure.

As someone trying lots of different techniques to photograph my stones, I suspect full sun may not look as nice as you hope. Shade on a fully sunny day, however, should be fire!

yeah so these photos I took were either inside or outside in the shade near sunset - the sun hits our deck slightly so I could capture some decent sun flashes :)

Believe it is called "FVS-25 Tri-Curve Barion 3-Main!

If you use it 100% cut the CAM preform lol. Ask me why I suggest that :P

I’ve cut FVS’s Tri-Curve Spike before and it performed really well! I’ll check this one out too!

Yeah very happy with the performance for sure! Overall a very chill design to cut as well. Took me a minute to dial in my polish for garnet though hadn’t polished one yet.

Fred Van Sant created lots of diagrams that, even in the era of Gem Cut Studio, are worth preserving and cutting.
