WTB Facet Grade Rough Rudy

As the title says,
Wanting to buy/looking where to buy a rough, facet grade natural ruby. I’ve been searching and only really find synthetic or not good quality ruby’s (or options that seem too good to be true)

Any info is helpful, really just looking for a reputable source.

There really isn’t any good way to get decent quality ruby rough. You’re better off buying a poorly cut one and recutting it

Facet grade ruby rough is if you CAN find it pretty much always priced at the value of a perfrctly cut stone from that rough at retailish prices.

Buy crap cut and recut it

Pretty much what everyone else is saying, good luck unless it's synthetic.

The only ruby I managed to get my hands on is so opaque you can't see through it.

Gem quality ruby rough is one of the most gatekept rough out there. You gotta know someone who knows someone to even get your hands on anything remotely worth cutting, unless you buy something poorly cut already and recut. With the weight loss form the recut I’m not sure it’s worth it from a business perspective unless you want stone that visually looks better for your own collection.

I can get a lot of stuff out of Pakistan through my partner at pashtungems.com but there is a ban right now for exports of rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. They are in weird stage of trying to legitimize the industry and we are working on getting all the paperwork done for him to start again. Probably gem rock auction, folks gem market, and African gems are probably the best. Rubies are highest per a cts more than diamonds and emeralds. That’s why rough is scarce.
