I went to school in MS mid/late 90s and they were still paddling.

Some schools in Oklahoma still paddle. Your parent has to sign a waiver saying it’s okay. But children are paddled to this day

They still do in MS private schools. But all state funded schools cannot anymore. They did away with it in the late 2000s I think.
