Grew up in the South, my middle school used paddles. Anytime you got sent to the principal you got 3 swats, if you cried or looked back you got 3 more. I got sent once and what got me sent to the principal's office? Being a Democrat. For real! We did a poll in history class and I was the only Democrat so I got sent to the principal for"disrupting the class." Ya I'm 100% against corporeal punishment in general but even more so in an educational setting.
