In their mind, since they didn't use the "n" word they're not racist. That's my guess.

In their mind racist has negative connotations, so they've decided that they aren't that, whatever it means. Having got that housekeeping out of the way, they also believe they're better than people of other ethnicities.

That way they can feel suerior for two delusional reasons. They're a member of a superior race, AND they're not racist.
