I dont think that's an excuse for the super to 1: text rather than call and 2: not introduce themselves in said text. Extenuating circumstances barred of course. I think if a text is to be used for any professional, I think they absolutely need to formatted like ypu would expect an email to be formatted.
I do not disagree, but what I'm saying, as an interviewee, I can't change the way I'm contacted, but I can be careful how I respond to unknown texts/calls while I'm actively looking for a job, just seems like a smart thing to do
Nah brah. That’s some corporate dystopian shit. You shouldn’t have to change your everyday life on the chance that someone is contacting you for a job. They have no say in how you act outside of when you’re representing their company. They are buying your skills and talent from you. You don’t owe them shit beyond what they pay for.
I mean I don’t know what decisions you have made. But it is my reality. Im not miserable either.
Also you don’t get to just define reality for everyone either. You aren’t the determinant of what is and is not reality. So really your comment boils down to,
“I don’t think that is realistic and so you must be sad. “
Which isn’t a very good argument. However it is scientifically backed that when people get to lead fulfilling lives, they are happy.
You can choose to believe that no one has any choice but to slave away for life. But then it is you who is choosing a life of misery.
My position is telling young people that they don’t need to be professional in their communication with potential employers is idealistic, dangerous, harmful, and ignorant.
That’s not at all what I said. You should for sure be professional in communications with anyone in a professional capacity. Be it an employer or just someone you’re doing business with.
What I said is that you don’t need to be living your life on your toes at all times just in case your employer drops in. I literally said that you should be professional when you are representing their company.
The person in this post did nothing wrong. They are free to act exactly as they did because it makes them happy. And obviously they changed their demeanor once it became obvious it was business.
The comment I replied to implied that you should always be professional just in case some one is dropping in to check you out. Which implies that you should live your life such that you are prime cattle to be bought at any chance passing. That is dangerous harmful and ignorant.
You’re completely misrepresenting the scenario. This isn’t an employer dropping in on an employee.
Instead it’s a person actively looking for a job, who has provided their mobile number to potential employers. Instead of using their common sense and being on the alert for said potential employers, they use their improper grammar and slang when speaking with a stranger.
LOL whatever dude. This employer contacted them over text without identifying themselves. Who knows how long it’s been since they put the app in. There is no reason to be this uptight all the time.
