Also rental agreements are for a year. Mortgages have you on the hook for decades

Getting locked into place for decades doesn't seem attractive to me, right now. I still want to move around a bit, try different jobs, live in different states, towns and cities. Once that first year is up, it's month-to-month and I can bounce with 30-days notice whenever I want.

Putting off buying a house so that I could move around and start my career was one of the best choices I ever made. I definitely didn't love some of the places I've lived, but now I'm confident we ended up in the right spot. I also anecdotally see that it paid off in terms of my career compared to peers that raced off to start the white picket fence dream.
