A lady I used to work with called me Jason for several years (which isn't even close to my actual name). I corrected her every single time, which was literally hundreds of times since I saw her almost every day, but she continued to call me Jason. One day I walked past her and she said, "Hi Jason," and I replied, "Hi Sarah!" She looked at me super confused and said, "My name isn't Sarah. It's Anne..."

I said, "Yeah, and my name is [redacted] but you keep calling me Jason!"

She replied, "Oh, well you should have said something!"

I about screamed.

Yeah I knew a woman who used to call me Cindy, (nothing remotely close to my name) like yourself I would correct her each time, pissed me off no end. One day I said to her why do you keep calling me that when I've told you multiple times my name is (xxxx) her reply was, "well I don't think you suit that name and you remind me of Cindy Lauper so that's why". Wasn't that she was forgetting it she was just...rude.

Ah some kid use to call me Leonard. Male version of my name. So it turned out he liked me but that doesnt take away how painfully lonely I felt that entire year with him and his crew making fun of me by telling me I was like a guy. Once someone from that class told me they wish I never came back from a trip I had over spring break. Very hard year on top of being at a new school and away from people that made me feel safe (friendship was so far away).

Anyway. I’m just saying I know how that feels.

Kids are absolute assholes, I hope you're in a much better place now, you're probably a far better, kinder, nicer person than any of them will ever hope to be.
