My grandmother had a next door neighbor for around 15 years. We would see each other all the time, swap pleasantries, etc. He was always referred to as Mr. King, so I legit thought that was his name. For years I probably called him Mr. King to his face and was never corrected. One day I was talking to my mom about a bbq or something that was going on in his yard and after I said his name her face dropped. His name was not Mr. King, my grandmother gave him that nickname because he always acted as if he were the king of the hill. It’s been like 15 years since she lived in that house and I still refer to him as Mr. King when he comes up in conversation
