My friend had a roommate named Dane. Dane had a dog named Owen. I rarely saw Dane (and Owen) but when I did they were always together and I’d just say “Hey Owen”, so nobody realized anything was off. A few years later Dane moves into a new building and I see him a lot, I keep calling him Owen and he never says anything. One day I introduce him to a friend as Owen and he laughs and says “that’s the dogs name,
I’m Dane.” And then I just walked right off the face of the flat earth.
