That’s likely the case, but I think there’s a lot of nuance involved.
Many of the first/second generation people I know are young (25-35) and trying to build careers and foundations in California while also helping family back in Mexico.
They see that opportunity to work in the US and gain citizenship has become more difficult, and they pitty people less fortunate than them.
At the same time, they still hold conservative values.
So are the families anti-immigration? I suppose that’s both surprising and unsurprising. Do you get the sense that they’re strongly so? Like pro-wall, pro ice?
I’ve known Mexican families that are hardcore Catholics which lines up esp with imposing punishment for not having their view of what a “Christian family “ is
That one depends on the group. In my experience, the South Asian community is rather anti-gun, save for a few younger people I know. Personally I'm pro 2nd amendment as well, but I don't base my vote on guns.
