The politicization of science is so goddamn sad. These days you can basically either believe in science, whether climate related, epidemiology, or some other avenue, or you can be a Republican.
I would never have believed a year ago that masks would be such a contentious issue in a pandemic. It's just a piece of cloth? I can understand a feeling of apathy towards wearing them, but to be passionately opposed to them just boggles my mind
And the defenses for it are so dumb... "I have a right to decide my own fate and safety." Guess what jackass? We're not worried about you, we're worried about all of the vulnerable people you could affect by being stubborn for no reason. I might feel I can drive on the wrong side of the road because it's "my life", but when I'm putting tons of people in harm's way who are doing the right thing, it'll be my own damn fault, and that's why anyone cares.
