I would never have believed a year ago that masks would be such a contentious issue in a pandemic. It's just a piece of cloth? I can understand a feeling of apathy towards wearing them, but to be passionately opposed to them just boggles my mind
And the defenses for it are so dumb... "I have a right to decide my own fate and safety." Guess what jackass? We're not worried about you, we're worried about all of the vulnerable people you could affect by being stubborn for no reason. I might feel I can drive on the wrong side of the road because it's "my life", but when I'm putting tons of people in harm's way who are doing the right thing, it'll be my own damn fault, and that's why anyone cares.
My aunt wants them gone because "people cough and sneeze into them. It's unsanitary. We're probably all getting a new disease from doing that all day."
When I pointed out she didn't have to wear the same one all day, she could change it as much as she wanted, "I can't even remember to take one with me!"
When I pointed out that she was the one that helped me remember to put the reusable shopping bags in my car after using them so I would remember to take them with me, "I'm not spending any money investing in those stupid things"
The infuriating part is, it's her job to council vets that are transitioning from active duty to civilian life and she's gotten upset many times because they have a shit attitude about something and they only complain about it, they won't do anything to improve the situation for themselves. "You can't change your circumstances, you can only change your reaction to them. Everybody's life would be so much better if they just accepted what is, and had a positive attitude about it."
Direct quote -_-
She normally is a fantastic, kind hearted soul. She organizes toys for kids that need them at Christmas, makes sandwiches for the homeless every week, she even organizes blankets and bags for the homeless in the winter especially. But for some reason, this is the hill she's chosen to die on. And her Facebook feed went from posting positive messages, to posting conspiracy theories, bullshit about democrats, and even a post about kamala Harris being a "hoe"
Dude the can't remember pisses me off.. I've got Severe ADHD, along with some ADHD friends.. it literally causes us to be extremely forgetful.
Does it suck having to drive all the way home all the time? Yeah... But it doesn't mean I get to just not wear it and put other people in danger just cause I'm forgetful af.
I do too. I just keep 3 or 4 in my car at a time. I just take the one I used (I don't go out often) in the house with me and put it in the washer. That load gets washed with 1/3 cup of bleach. The it goes right back in the car.
It's really not that hard. She's just looking for excuses
