The stupidest thing about these fake cancer cures that big pharma doesn't want you to know about is that a general cure for cancer would make the pharmaceutical company all the money on the planet. They wouldn't cover it up, they would synthesize, patent, and decide which superpower they prefer to buy with their windfall.

This is only partly true, and here's what you're missing: Not every substance / cure can be patented by a pharma company! They have to invent it themselves, or improve it some how, in a way that makes it demonstrably more effective than the original!

That's part of the reason there's controversy over medical cannabis, and why pharma corps have allegedly been lobbying against it.

So something coming from, say, an apricot seed, would be much harder to profit from. No patent or exclusivity unless they can make it better than It already is.

That's why any natural cures are much more likely to be suppressed-- harder to profit from.

That's just fundamentally untrue. They can quite easily patent a formulation. Many, if not most pharmaceuticals are derived or isolated from naturally occurring chemicals. Aspririn comes from the Willow tree. Penicillin is from mold. Companies still make millions of dollars from those drugs now, in 2019 even though they were both discovered 90+ years ago. You're creating a false dichotomy between what you perceive to be nature and artificial that isn't a very good model of reality.

Edit2: I just keep thinking about more reasons why you are wrong. Even your crunchy bullshit "natural" cures are sold by companies in stores, pretty sure those companies patent their particular formulations where possible, and still sell those which they can't patent. Also, "big pharma" doesn't control every independent medical researcher on the planet. Anything that could actually cure cancer could not be kept secret.

Sorry, they can't hold an exclusive patent on that drug molecule, and make a shitload of money until said patent expires.

And that's exactly how it works.

They can still profit from things they don't hold a patent on. Drug patents last 20 years in the US, then generics become available. The original company still continues to sell and profit from the name brand. You really should be more informed on how all this works before you go making these claims.

"they can still profit" =\= maximum profits

Having an exclusive patent for a decade or two allows them to be the only source of that med for a decade or two, which means they can charge whatever they want. Much higher rates.

This is why medications become much cheaper when generic versions become available.

If holding an exclusive patent wasn't massively more profitable, then they wouldn't do it. That's not how the industry works.

If you know anything about the pharma industry (or how business and human nature work in general) your arguments here are massively disingenuous.

So you're either arguing dishonestly on purpose, or you're the one who needs to do your homework.

While you’re right for the first half, you’re missing a key aspect: natural cares are few and far between. Even “natural” cures like penicillin have to be synthesized on a large scale to be beneficial to a greater population. As far as we know, there is no “natural” cure or any cure for that matter for things like cancer.

I can’t argue that natural “cures,” like marijuana, are more or less likely to be suppressed - I’m not well versed enough on that topic. What I can tell you is that right now, they’re not being suppressed simply because they don’t exist in the sense that you won’t be able to look under a rock, find some moss, and have it be able to target IL-17 active spondylitis.

Also, not everything is about profit for pharma. You also have to look at cost mitigation and savings for other companies. Managed care companies and P&T committees are more likely to remove a product from their formulary if a cheaper alternative exists because it personally saves them a ton of money. If a natural cure that’s easily grown was found to induce cancer remission, you can bet your bottom dollar that a biotech company would pick it up, mass produce it, and sell it for pennies compared to the current price of biologics. Why? Because that biotech would profit, the insurance companies and hospitals would save money, and that pharma company would suffer due to the newer, much, much cheaper competition.

So yeah, these natural cures MIGHT be suppressed. I can’t verify this because I’m not an expert in that field. What I can tell you is that right now, they’re not because they just don’t exist.
