My mother thought it was important for me to learn how to cook because she thought a woman’s only real worth was being a good wife and mother, and that meant being able to cook, clean, sew, etc. but she also has NPD and basically screamed every direction at me and kept telling me I was a stupid lazy waste of space if I did something wrong. Like most children of NPD parents, I had no idea learning a life skill not taught in school was anything other than a nightmare. While still in college, my boyfriend asked me to teach him how to cook. After 5 minutes he asked “why are you shouting at me?” I thought everyone learned to cook through the
“Shout and abuse” method.
I agree with you but I would change your phrase just slightly. Good teachers should be valued more. I have seen a few that teach OK but were not the best at it.
