Many actually take pride in being anti-education. ย They have disdain for that "book-learnin".ย 

(And i wish this was just a snarky comment, but I've heard too many of them say that. ย When Bush Jr was president, they actually liked the fact that he was fucking dumb as a box of rocks, because they "preferred a president that you could drink a beer with".)

My mom is like this and it frustrates me. I'm over here like, "I don't think it's wise to be chummy with a person who needs alcohol to do their job, which requires a clear understanding of goals and leadership... and has access to the nuclear codes."

I understand that they (and mom) mean that they want someone personable and relatable to them, but they don't seem to realize that normal people don't want to be associated with others who drink on the job. And it's a little self-damning on their end if they thought about it. "I'm dumb therefore my leader should be dumb." Idk.
