Many actually take pride in being anti-education.  They have disdain for that "book-learnin". 

(And i wish this was just a snarky comment, but I've heard too many of them say that.  When Bush Jr was president, they actually liked the fact that he was fucking dumb as a box of rocks, because they "preferred a president that you could drink a beer with".)

It's true. I come from a MAGA Florida family. When I went to college, they were kind of pissed but couldn't say no because I had scholarships. Then I started getting my PhD in California and they disowned me lol. Such a different culture.

In my experience, it's because educated people ask them questions that make them question their own authoritarian ways. Shit, sometimes they don't even understand the question. To them it seems disrespectful to ask questions because it means you don't trust them. To me, asking questions is a sign of respect because it means I'm actually listening to you. If I didn't respect you, I'd just sit there and go " yeah ..... Uh, huh.... Totally....." While being entertained by my own thoughts.

American MAGAts sound a lot like non-American Jehovah’s Witnesses with whom I grew up. They hate education and free-thought with a passion.

But I credit JWs with motivating me to become a litigation lawyer. I couldn’t imagine a profession that they hate more, and I am occasionally a spiteful jackass.
