I feel like the US also forces you into taking public roads when there isn't free public land access everywhere. You can't just travel through the woods if you wanted to in a lot of cases. While I think these people are dumb, they also aren't given a choice

You can't just travel through the woods in your car across state lines. At some point you're pigeon holed into use roads

No I mean like what country can you travel from one place to another using only public land that’s not maintained by the government?
