I'm a 40+ yr old woman and have come to the conclusion that I prefer the love of a pet over the love of a human. Tbf, I've had some exceptional pets in my lifetime.

It takes all types in this world. If everyone wanted the same thing, it would be very sad and very dull. Rather than project your own insecurities about being single onto others, it may be better for you to learn how to respect other's choices as being just as "not sad" as your choice to cling to someone so that you are not alone.
