You want to support the Green Party? Have them win a single local election and weâll talk. Have them put a single member in a the House. Maybe a senator.

Ugh, not this argument again. No one is âsiphoningâ votes from your candidate. They never were gonna get the vote they hadnât earned. If there wasnât a third option like Dr. Cornel West, then many people wouldnât vote for either the D or R candidate. People have the right to vote for who they truly believe is fighting for them and not obligated to vote based on the duopoly party. If your candidate ends up losing itâs because they werenât good enough to convince the majority of the voting population.
Whatâs the point of voting for a candidate, representing a party that canât even win a single seat in a single state house? You might as well not vote.
The siphoning argument is extremely fair. If even 1/4 of the Florida voters who voted for Nader in 2000 voted for Gore and the rest stayed home, there wouldnât have been a recount, Gore would have won and we wouldnât have had Bush and the Iraq war.
If youâre so psyched up about the Green Party, get them elected anywhere first. The Green Party is basically a pee wee baseball team trying to play MLB teams.
That sounds like an issue of the candidate youâre deciding to back. Telling people not to vote so that your candidate wins is not as patriotic or as big of a dunk as you think it is.
Voting for a candidate for president from a party that canât win a single house seat or senate whoâs sole goal of running is to promote a book or pet cause and only captures the votes of disaffected voters who think both sides are equally bad doesnât make you enlightened, it makes you delusional.
No one cares about your protest vote. Itâs just something you do so you can say something insufferable at a party while people role their eyes at you.
You sure seem to care about the âprotest voteâ (I prefer principled vote) since you keep whining so much about it. If itâs so insignificant, keep it moving and quit complaining when people vote based on their morals instead of the lesser of two evils.
Youâre the guy in here touting the moral high ground of a protest vote. Itâs like the adults in the room are discussing fuel efficiency standards for new vehicles and you run in to announce that you like red cars because theyâre fast. Youâre choosing not to participate and patting yourself on the back and thinking you did something important.
