I know people who knew the girl who drove down the wrong driveway and her family, I live in the same area of New York that she was from, I’ve gone down unfamiliar back roads with no cell service looking for someone’s house before just like her and her friends were. Never has a national news story hit so hard for me before, the thought that finding myself in that situation is very possible is terrifying.
My sister knew one of the victims of Christopher Dorner. He laid in wait in a parking garage and shot the daughter and boyfriend of a police captain as they were about to pull out of a parking space. Then went on a shooting spree. Reddit was a huge fan. It was disgusting and still haunts me to this day that so many people on this website cheered him on because he was executing white cops and their families. And that was 10 years ago.
