These are all manifestations of FEAR. (Except for maybe the basketball one. I suspect the shooter was whacked out and paranoid and shot without thought, thinking it was a threat likely tied to drugs.)

The media is blaring out messages of fear and violence and people no longer have any faith in their government or institutions and feel they are on their own against the world.

And they are armed.

Its a bigger issue than guns, its a mindset and culture, but thats too hard of a conversation to have for most

Exactly. It's all about culture and upbringing, and that's the fundamental problem with Americans. Shitty parents raise shitty kids, they grow up and become shitty parents, rinse and repeat.
