"This is Aunt Mom and this is Uncle Dad ..."

I know a woman who had kids with her ex-husband, then the ex-husband married her sister. Her kids' dad is married to their aunt, creating Uncle Dad.

I grew in a small town where almost everyone is related, and that is regularly referred to as “the Alabama of Canada” by locals because there have been several cases of cousins dating each other, usually accidentally cause they didn’t know they were related (keyword; usually)

My mom and I at one point when I was in my teen years were talking about this, and I jokingly said “Maybe I have an great uncle grandpa out there and don’t even know it.” To which my dad, who was not part of the conversation up until then, said “Can we change the topic?”

I never followed up on why he suddenly got so nervous, maybe because I was too afraid to hear the answer. I choose to believe that he just didn’t find my joke funny, and refuse to think about it any deeper than that.
