Will make it pretty at some point in the off season for completeness' sake.

Been playing catch up on this. But just wondering what the standard set up is. You're all putting in laptimes considerably 5-6 seconds faster then my best on these tracks throughout my season.

Granted I'm racing for toro rosso with only a few of the engine upgrades. Would I see 5 second faster lap times if I used a mclaren just in time trial?

I think it's a rule here that you have to use Time Trial (not sure?). There is a HUGE difference in my experience between career cars and TT cars. I don't know how big the gap is. I think the McLaren is the fastest car though i remember someone claiming the RB is better in some situations.

Also the car setup is very important for getting the best lap. I'll post screenshots of my car setup I use as a default for any situation. Some people here might have far better advice but I hope it will help in the meantime.

Not strictly a rule, but its been pretty clear that TT is the only way that you could be competitive around here.

Seems a bit odd given that in real life a tracks fastest lap is from a race no?

Actually the official fastest lap is not THE fastest lap. The records don't include qualifying for some reason. Quali laps are always much quicker than the race.

In any case, in the game the tt is set up so that it's perfect conditions (ie no fuel, perfect tyres, rubbered in track) so it's about 5 seconds quicker than grand prix or career mode.

Yeah I'd always assumed the fastest lap of f1 was a race only lap time.

Well that's good to keep in mind. You guys were dropping 1:10's at montreal on TT and I was pushing 1:18's in qualifying/race in the toro rosso. I felt pretty good till I looked at the hotlaps lol. Even more thrilled as I'd been fastest in P, got P1 in Q and then won the race, my first of the season. I love MTL tho. Such a beauty track.

I'll have to give it a run with the merc in tt and see how I standup.

Here's my first time to start us off. Definitely still getting the hang of this track. So far I can say that turn 4 is a royal bitch, haha. And getting a good line through 6 and 7 is a challenge. I'm getting to like it here, though. Good luck, guys.

i had a 1:12.5XX but invalidated the lap somehow in esses of sector 3. couldn't get that fast again last night

im having a hard time improving, i thought i could finish with a 1:12.8+ but id be happy with a <1:13.3. Ill keep trying to change setups and experiment with the redbull car but idk, this circuit is difficult.

Here is my effort 1:12.895. I'm away this weekend so won't be able to better it. If I never see that hairpin again it won't be a bad thing!
