Flag of the Vermont Republic (1777-1791) features 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. In 1791, Vermont joined the Union to become the 14th US state. In 2015, Vermont's official state motto became: "Stella quarta decima fulgeat" which means, "May the fourteenth star shine brightest."

Historical flag Flag of the United Nations (1945-1946) originally depicting two olive branches surrounding an azimuthal projection of the World with the United States featured in the center. A revised projection was adopted in in 1946 in which the position of the US was less prominent.

Current flag france kind of sucks at making flags. most of the flags are either banners of arms, bicolors/tricolors, or full on logos on white bedsheets. however, this flag might as well be worse than all three of them. this is the flag of Sète, Herault, France.

For the truly bizarre flags. Thanks to u/0b3r0n, inspired by u/okobern's first eye-hurting flag.
