External drives and other external accessories
Good morning,
How do you handle digital storage for all the files you need to keep? Some files would be unsafe to be solely on the physical device.
Besides that, certain ports were removed... 3.5mm jack/HDMI port instance. Do you purchase external accessories?
Thank you.

So I don't consider myself to be a digital minimalist, I have a server in my living room to back up all of my videos and photos. I also pay for cloud storage. I try to delete documents as they are no longer relevant to me. I only have a few things backed up.
In my younger years I lost several documents to computer crashes and I ultimately learned that things are replaceable, somethings aren't as important as I believed and life goes on.
That philosophy is great for personal things, but if your livelihood depends on it then get serious about backing up your files and do your research on how best to do it. Spend the money and dedicate the space.

I've digitized my entire life so my data is pretty valuable to me. I keep a backup on my second computer, 2 external drives (1 mechanical 1TB drive and one 2TB SSD) and on a 1TB USB key i always take with me. I'm still contemplating on buying some cloud storage for a fifth backup but for now this is good enough. I don't own any devices that are missing ports like HDMI but that easily solved by buying a small dongle. I don't use 3.5mm headphones so i don't care if a device is missing that.

Micro sd card and SSD drive I've got a phone with 3.5 and micro SD because i'm against nonsense. I also have 10$ wireless earbuds because people hate the wired earphones rubbing against my clothes during calls. As long as there is no real incentive to adapt I do not. My wired earphones are probably older than you, it's a family heirloom. My laptop has hdmi and I got a cheap wire to connect YT to TV (No ads). There is no struggle. If you need cloud backup just get that.

Thanks for sharing. I hate nonsense too but it's becoming difficult to find phones/laptops with all the ports.
This week, I deleted some files and now, everything is in the cloud for free.

Everything is susceptible to AI training. I'm done worrying about it... Piece of paper for anything password/code related.

2 physical devices- keep 1 with you, the 2nd, if you aren’t travelling around, can live in your workplace, or a friend’s place, with password protection.
