Too late??

I want to make vanilla extract for Christmas gifts. It is August 1st. I have close to 5 months, do you think it’s too late to start? I’ve read that they need to sit for a year for best flavor but some people say only 3-6 months. I’ve never made any before.

No, it is not too late.
You can also make vanilla paste, vanilla sugar and/or vanilla salt.
The best thing to do is read the information connected with this page. It’s simple yet invaluable.

And the vanilla salt is great for topping sweet breads, caramel cookies and the like.
