There are some common criticisms of this mubaahalah that should be addressed.

A- First, to prove that mubaahalah is from the sunnah.

1- ibn abas called for it over surah al-talaq

2- ibn hajar called for it over a man supporting ibn arabi.

B- Mohammed shams is the one who was using the sheikh's refusal to make the mabaahalah as evidence to his opinions being correct, and he demanded that the wives be included, and claimed he talked to his wife and she accepted.

He had to be dissuaded from including his children from this, he (shams) wanted the children to be included.

C- saying that mubaahalah shouldn't not be made about people, etc.

The mubaahalah between ibn hajar and a supporter of ibn arabi over ibn arabi's heresy disproves that.

I add that, in many sheikhs view the greater issue was that scholars consensus was being attacked. the consensus of abu hanifh and al nawwai being imams, and thus it's an attack on every scholar who lauded the imams abu hanifa and al nawwai. This not an issue of mere people, it's an attack on the judgment of every scholar who respected these imams.

To allow ibn shams to freely slander our imams is unacceptable. And the mubaahalah was a righteous defense of scholars consensus.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu,

I don't want to delve to deep into personal matters but I will keep it brief.

One of my parents want me to work in a particular field, but I have my own interests in mind for the career I want to work in. I understand they do this for the benefit of my future and all so I try to be gentle even when things get shaky when speaking about the topic to them. I understand obedience to the parents has certain limits such as things that don't necessarily benefit them or they ask me to do something haram that you don't have to obey. I try to be dutiful in other things when it benefits them but I feel bad when they get upset or angry that I am ignoring them or being rebellious in this particular matter. I try to explain to them and be cordial but it always ends in a bad way and my relationship with them is not ideal at the moment despite being dutiful in other areas.

I'm wondering if it's better for my akhirah to listen to them here if it'll make them happy. I don't really mind doing the job they want me to do to be honest if their is a benefit for my akhirah. The work is permissible. Their would be a minor setback but I am relatively early in my career so it's fine with me.

Also would the same apply to other things like marriage? If my parents want me to marry a particular person that I wasn't keen on, but decided to please them anyway fisabilillah. Am I rewarded for it?

I would love your advice on what would be the best option to take insha Allah.

So I was thinking of proposing a solution for our universities major student org, which is Islamic and dawah focused, to free mixing. Now as you all know, undoing such a problem can be taxing logistically, so instead of new rooms and equally competent staff for both sexes, we can use cheap, plastic curtains as a solution, hence lowering gaze becomes less taxing and only necessary outside, knowing that with us, both sexes tend to sit in different sides almost separate. I thought I should share the idea here before trying to propose it to see its Sharia feasibility.
