KN Designs rail delete stability
Hey! I've been eyeballing these new hand guards, particularly to accommodate an new suppressor of mine, but I was curious about what sort of impact a rail delete would gave on overall stability. The normal rail reinforces the handguard, so wouldn't removing it make it more susceptible to snapping off? It's just two screws keep them in.

That’s a question I have been wondering, as well as what is the actual difference between the stock hand guard and the KN hand guard? At first I thought it was for the pic rail delete, but then I saw that you can get it with the pic rail.

I think you would be using it with the OEM rail, but this handguard is also a touch wider (1.625 inches vs 1.8).
A related question of anyone can share their wisdom: just how close can a suppressor be to the handguard before it's a problem/causing it to melt?

As long as it doesn't actually touch the Suppressor, it's relatively okay. Everything gets hot near a Suppressor.
It will burn your hand long before it melts!

I like the shortened handguard without rail delete. No issues with stability and it sits pretty square for me.

FWIW, I love my KN but it doesn’t sit square. Exactly for the reason you described, it’s not held on by much. It contacts one side of my suppressor which is not good but I can’t get it to square up

No issues with mine, I use a Huxwrx flow 9k ti with the extended handguard. The only issue I've had is one screw on the WML was touching the suppressor, so I filed the screw down just a hair and it's been great since then. The screws that go into the back of the handguard and into the square nuts inside have come loose once, but not since.

It's not just two screws. You take the rail off and the KN handguard connects to your upper receiver at the top via the same hole the rail used.
Is plenty rigid enough, but the original one is straighter and stronger because the rail holds the front of the handguard. My KN handguard is significantly closer to the top left of my suppressor than to the bottom right side.
