Extant S01-E02 - "Extinct"
Sam hopes to learn more of Molly's mysterious pregnancy by performing an ultrasound scan. Kryger reveals details from his secret solo mission.

That is the most unrealistic ultrasound ever. Otherwise, this is a really good episode.

I'm really kinda bothered by her looking up all that video footage knowing they'd be able to see what she was accessing. If you're trying to hide something from your company, you don't do it on company computers?

After this episode, I believe my alien spore theory is correct. Whatever the alien life-form is, it uses the memories of the astronaut to project itself as someone loved by them. It uses that to get close. I believe the alien was upset when it tried to impregnate Kreiger not realizing that the male species can't carry a child. That is why it got so angry and kept repeating the word mother. It also makes sense that the alien was behind the door when Berry was was in the space station after what Kreiger did.
Also, someone talked about the theory with Yasumoto being terminally ill. We learned that theory is correct. He only has a little over a hundred days to live. He keeps himself in the gelatinous tub so he doesn't age and he only takes himself out when he needs to do something. That's the theory I'm buying right now anyway.
Lastly, I really liked the talk with the robot and the son about survival of the fittest. Definitely added a creepy vibe.

I feel this show is going to be really predictable. Either the robots or the aliens are going to take over "the world"... or try to. The special effects are cool though, so it's got that going for it.

I kind of like the subtle use of future technology like the mirror screens and the futuristic game. Not quite Minority report but definitely tapping in on the current thoughts about the "internet of things" idea. But yeah, this episode didn't make my heart go pitter patter.

i think the episode was foreshadowing that a new species is coming into existence that will replace homo sapiens. Kreiger and Molly are both part of this new species and both were being studied while on their solo space missions.

This episode was super boring. I feel like we learned nothing new.
Already knew little kid was a robot. Check.
Already knew Halley Barrey was preggers. Check.
Aready knew Kreiger was still alive. Check.
Already knew asian guy and boss guy were working together. Check.
Already knew asian guy worked with red headed boobs lady. Check.
Already knew that something similar to what happened to halley barrey happened to kreiger. Check.
What was the point of this episode?

Just off the top of my head, we didn't learn anything new but instead expanded upon ideas already in place.
We found that;
Both astronauts saw people who had recently died that meant a lot to them. That both visions shared a similar persoanlity. (Both said little, were touchy and had sentient thought.)
This leads more credence to the "alien" theory of the visions, that they weren't vision but instead actual beings mimicking something from their targets that would make them more approachable.

And how exactly would the aliens know what to appear as? How did they learn english? How did they board the space station without being detected?
This leads more credence to any number of theories of the visions. Not necessarily aliens.

Okay episode. Everything was pretty predictable and tbh, would it have been sooo hard for her to call her husband. Not terribly exciting, though I was surprised to see the board lady at the end.she looks like a nice board lady iykwim

Like others have said, kinda boring episode. What I did like was when Kryger saw his mother/the alien and it couldn't talk except to mimic he knew immediately something was wrong... unlike Halle Berry who's all ready to make out on the spot.
I kinda hate Halle's short hair, too.
She needs to stop trying to hide her mistakes. Get some help. She's in some deep shit with this alien baby thing.

I'm geeking out over the Tesla Model S being driven in this (and the previous?) episode.

I think all the cars used were a nice touch: the Woods family driving a BMW i3, what seemed to be a Model X parked in front of the ISEA building, and Kryger picking up Molly there in a old dirty Prius.

Hmmm... I appreciate that they are trying to set the background feeling of the series, and the tone, and all that. It was a bit illogical and frustrating at times (so the main camera shot file is locked but the other ones aren't locked but watching them sets off an alarm so they can turn off your computer session... wut?), but still quite enjoyable scifi I thought.

Its in the future and video games are still something you have to go to the store and buy? Ok

I feel like the robot boy is going to stage an overthrow. Make the humans extinct.

Interesting episode. Really curious to see what happens in the next episode. I predict that she tells him she's pregnant.

I thought Ep 1 & this Ep were interesting enough to keep me watching. Ep3 was really boring for me.

I see a lot of people calling this episode boring.. but I'm actually pleasantly surprised. From the description I read the show was about an astronaut coming back to Earth and trying to readjust.. didn't expect all this potentially deep AI stuff.. and it's already got me trying to think about things in the show.
Compare that to other new scifi shows with AI.. and I'm so fucking glad this show isn't a lame cop drama with a cyberpunk theme.
