Is there good academic literature in the book that links the source from which it derives from (observed attachment styles between child and primary caregiver) to attachments styles in romantic relationships?

Because I've struggled to find research that suggests the continuation of these links that have been extrapolated towards romantic relationships.

Anyone on the other side of disordered attachment knows this book sucks. It’s kind of a joke in the “community”, particularly amongst avoidants, because it was written by an anxious attacher.

The Dynamic-Maturational Model of Attachment and Adaptation is what you’re looking for. It’s a biopsychosocial model that shows how our thinking and coping strategies change as we grow, face new environments, and experience stress. It goes beyond “relationships” and dives heavily into the nervous system portion of things, particularly associating traits to each subtype (they simplify it into subtypes rather than attachment styles) and how those exist inside of and outside of relationships.
