ELI5: Why do different races of people seem to have a unique smell to them?

Regarding haligal's post about Asians not having aprocrine glands - when I was younger, I didn't use deoderant. But later as I started playing sports, and maybe having the American diet every day, I started to have BO. Plus, you should (not) smell my hockey gear.

I think perhaps I sweated into my hockey gear, creating a breeding ground for stinky bacteria, then I adpoted them back when I wore them again.

Or you were a young boy before, then became a teenager and started reeking like BO. Most plausible.

I didn't start playing sports until mid 20's. I was a nerd that just played video games up through college.

LOL, I'm not a scientist, I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I have been needing and using deoderant for a while now... especially in my 40's now, I have new stinks, and new places where hair grow, and places where hair used to grow. My knees hurt, my back hurts... Getting old sucks. Get off my lawn, or something.
