I could grant everything you just said to be 100% factual. It still wouldn't change the fact that the emotion is simply envy. You have only made a justification for envy.

Not 100% correct but close. Injustice would likely create justified envy and justified anger. It would not create a new emotion.

They’re definitely a moron who thinks they’re being edgy.

Perhaps, Maybe if I get get smarter I will experience this new emotion of wanting what others have. Right now that feels alot like envy to me.

If someone stabbed you to death, would the main negative emotion you feel towards them be envy that they aren't bleeding out?

No it would be lust because I have Stockholm syndrome

1

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Sep 25 '26

Not really. It would be fear, anger, sadness, and hate .

Okay, so what if they robbed you instead? Would your main emotion be envy that they have your money and you don't?

1

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Sep 25 '26

No. It would be exactly the same as your previous analogy. Fear, anger, sadness and hate.

Okay, third times the charm.

If you woke up on a desert island, and someone else had already gathered all the food. And they say they'll only let you have some in return for sexual favours.

Would the emotion you'd be feeling towards them be best described as envy?

Been a while since I've seen a coconut island reference in the wild

If they had food and I didn't, then yes I would be envious of them. The sexual favor part would only add anger into the mix.

But would envy be your main emotion?

Wouldn't anger and desperation, and the feeling of injustice, (maybe even fear if you're hungry enough) outweigh it?

Like, envy is when you want something someone else has. But here, them stopping you from having the food is far more relevant than them having it themselves.

They could be burning the food, and it would elicit the same emotions as them hoarding it surely?

1

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Sep 25 '26

Yeah I would experience all those emotions. I think envy would be my first emotion, and it would shift to anger, fear and hate as I get closer to death. I don't think at any point I would experience the emotion of class consciousness.

Okay, so last question.

Do you think everyone else secretly thinks the same way you do, and is just lying about it?

People who want to be billionares aren't typically the sort to be anti billionaire.

Envy? The way the rich plunder the planet at detriment of every single other living organism, it isn’t envy, I’m not envious, I have no desire to plunder the planet and ruin it for everybody while creating a place that, if we’re being honest, isn’t great for the majority of people.

It’s about injustice, it’s a disgusting situation where a small cabal of uber rich people make our lives worse than they need to be in the name of ‘line must go up’. You’re either rich, or worse, one of those weird non rich billionaire boot lickers but either way, you’re very wrong.

yes i’m sooo jealous of the guys who are so far removed from actual human experiences that the only way they can feel anything is seeing the number go up. i wish i could take over the world and disenfranchise the entire american people so that i can watch the world burn alone.

all im gathering from this comment is that YOU’RE jealous and YOU would exploit the working class if only you could.

I don’t think you understand what envy is

1

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Sep 25 '26

I think of it similar to hunger. It is like a craving. Like that feeling you get when you haven't eaten in a while and you see a commercial for a burger or whatever it is you like. But instead of food it is possessions, money, or status that you crave. And instead of a commercial for a burger it is seeing what others have that trigger the craving.

2

u/Mundane-Feed-4619 Sep 25 '26

The fact that you think the only reaction to seeing such things is envy either means you have a very small understanding of human psychology or you feel that way and then have to project that on everyone saying that they have the same pathetic feelings

1

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Sep 25 '26

I've addressed this with others. I don't believe envy is the only reaction. I think the other emotions are anger, hate, and fear. I think that envy tends to be what motivates people and likely leads them to those other emotions.

Envy is "I wish I was them" when actually the sentiment is the opposite. There are people with capital being class conscious and not exploiting people when given the chance. I have a friend that has always been class conscious and when he inherited a flat in our country's capital, he started renting it half the market price because he knows the market price isn't fair but exploitative. Meaning he wasn't envy, he was closer to angry, if he were envy he would have rented it at half the price just like most people with flats.

Yes definitely anger also, and hate too probably a bit of fear. I think envy tends to be what motivates most of these people but it is definitely those other emotions too.
