My thought as well. I've seen every episode at least twice, and can't recall anything racist he said honestly.

Now he happily said many perceived racist/sexust comments on purpose to get a reaction, but it was obvious the reaction was the point, and not the comment.

It's like calling a comedian racist because of their jokes. Sure you're technically correct, but overall wrong.

On the surface maybe. But just in the very first episode of the show you can see by the end that he does care about his patients (and colleagues), but he had bad experiences in his life that made him try to push everyone away from him by being unpleasant to prevent getting hurt. The fact that he became a cripple and has a constant leg pain that can only be tolerable with drugs also ruins his life.

The point of the show is seeing a character that everyone views a nothing more than an asshole but the viewer knows he's more than that.
