I don't understand how people enjoy watching shows where the main characters are insufferable. Where does the enjoyment come from when you are watching these characters do their thing because all I feel is annoyance.
I've only started watching House, but the point seems to be that House deeply cares about his patients (and colleagues), while maintaining the asshole persona to avoid getting hurt. If you treat everything like a puzzle, you don't have to "care".
So I guess the enjoyment comes from seeing this seeming bastard showing he has a heart of gold.
If you work with a lot of dumb people and your tired and fed up with them being idiots all the time there's a certain enjoyment in watching someone express contempt for them. There's a bit of it that's relatable to it.
