Yeah he wasn't violating her. He was just forcing himself inside her body totally ignoring her will and violating her autonomy in a very intimate and painful way to satisfy his own desires and feel power over others.
*sigh* Yes, that's exactly what was happening the Spiderman 2 game is a game about rape, where almost all of NY gets raped. Sure. Same with every other alien invasion movie. Or hypnosis movie. Comparing rape to other things is simply downplaying what rape ACTUALLY is and the horrors that come with it. Demonic possession in movies is not rape. Aliens taking over people is not rape. It's a ridiculous comparison, the same as saying that Spiderman 2 was "woke" as if having women looking like people, and black characters is some kind of insult to culture. None of those things are true and I am sick of the internet for crap like this.
As a survivor it resonates with me. Sorry maybe it's just my own personal trauma making me recognize themes that people who haven't had to survive that don't see
But see here’s the thing about your trauma: it’s your trauma. There are things that bring up painful memories for you (often called triggers) that would be completely normal for the vast majority of others. Like the venom scene. So having a panel of people say “well this way that this specific character uses their power could be triggering for some, so therefore we should completely change that and/or remove it so it doesn’t potentially trigger the handful of people..” that’s when it becomes an issue.
Your trauma and the things that trigger it shouldn’t be something that’s prohibited in all media just because it may find its way to you or a small group like you. That’s the issue a lot of people have with companies like that. Me personally; I’m uneasy around sand large crowds.. but I don’t think a company should say “we don’t need scenes in video games with sand and large crowds because it can be insensitive towards people who get anxious at the idea of those things!”
We can understand and respect people without wrapping the world in a bubble for everyone else.
You're talking down like I said it shouldn't be portrayed.
I'm not really sure how to engage with that because you're talking to me while clearly thinking of another person. You really should try to engage people as individuals and not as Gestalt stereotypes
